College & Military Care Packages

Back to school time is here and we have many of our young adults in college or in the military.  Please help us to remind our young adults that even when they are away, they remain in our thoughts and prayers.  We are looking for donations to send in our 16 “care packages”

We are asking for donations of items to go into the boxes or for money to help buy the items and mail the boxes. Some of the things we are asking for are pocket-size hand sanitizer, pocket-size tissues, drink mixes, # 2 size mechanical pencils, ink pens (blue or black), notecards, snack items…along with hand-written notes of encouragement and prayers.  Thank you for your support.

For more info or if you would like to give a name/address of a college student that you would like to receive a care package please contact  Lori B

Our Blessing Box continues to get heavy use. Our biggest need is packages of tuna, chicken and other protein. Two things we could use more of right now are granola bars and chewy granola bars.

CHURCH & WORSHIP NEWS

Improved RLC Communications System: Phone and Message Tree and Volunteer Sign-ups

We have been working to move our phone tree, messages and volunteer sign-ups to a new program created by Stephen Tharp.

If you have been getting an email from Pastor Mark each week, your email address will be added to the new system.

Please reply to your message if you would like to do any of the following:
-Remove your email from the update list and stop getting the weekly update
-Add your mailing address and phone number to your profile
-Receive messages by phone or text in addition to or instead of getting emails.

Pastor will send out the link for you to update your own contact information via the app.  It is set up in the Fellowship Hall now if you want to do so.

Thank you, Stephen for you hard work on our communications system.

Notes About Worship for Aug, Sept

We will be using a simplified order of worship for the next couple of months as we decide which setting to do next in the fall.Pastor Mark will be preaching a series about the culture of God’s Kingdom starting Sunday, August 23.

If you want to go deeper in what he is preaching on, you are invited to get a copy of the book The War of Worldviews by Jamie Winship.  You can get it through Amazon, Barnes and Nobel and Mardel.  If you want the church to order a copy, the cost will be about $15, and the order will be sent on Monday, August 17.

Worship Planning for Sept

Worship Planning
We now have a set time for worship planning and it is the first Sunday of the month at 9:00am. All who are interested are welcome to attend.

Wednesday Night Bible Study, 6:30pm Dinner and 7:00pm Bible Study

Wednesday Dinner and Bible study for July
The Beatitudes
Our Wednesday dinner and Bible study continues through the summer. We will be continuing a series on the Beatitudes (the first part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount).  After we finish this study, we will do a study on the Gospel of Mark starting in September.

There is no book for the class, just videos that we will watch and discuss.  Come join us as we are fed physically, socially and spiritually!

We meet for dinner at 6:30, start checking in about 6:50 and start our study at 7:00.  For more information about the course, go to prayercourse.org.

“Boundaries” Bible Study with Dr Paul

Picture
A new Bible study called Boundaries has started, and you are invited to participate. It’s being lead by Dr. Paul and it’s every Sunday at 9:15am.

Sometimes the challenge of Christianity is to have the courage to say yes, but often the greatest spiritual discipline is to know when to say no.  This study is based on the book Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Towsend.

Pastor Mark is Praying at the Yukon Chamber of Commerce 2x/month

Following God’s call to get into the community and connect people with God and each other, Pastor Mark will be doing community prayer in the Yukon Chamber of Commerce board room from noon-1:00 the first and third Monday of each month.

Come and join us as we pray for each other and the Yukon community.

Wednesday 4 Lokal

Each Wednesday, Pastor Mark (unless he is out of town or has another commitment) is going to the Lokal in Yukon from 4-5pm for a beer and to develop community.  It is a great opportunity to talk and pray with others or just check in with the server to see how they are doing and if they would like prayer for anything.  Come join him one of these Wednesdays.
